Are you prepared for Serving Our Neighbors during the next Emergency or National Crisis?
From July 2006 to 2011, Serving Our Neighbors partnered with the Portland Bureau of Emergency Management (which managed the Portland Citizen Corps Council) in preparing citizens of faith to be prepared for any emergency and to be a part of the solution, rather than sitting on the sidelines watching. The City of Portland welcomes anyone to participate in their Neighborhood Emergency Trainings (N.E.T.) and for them to take their online NET, wherein their churches could become Staging Areas for emergency situations. More info is also available at PREPOregon.
We have also partnered with the Citizen Corps Northwest, which facilitates the Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT) Program, the National Neighborhood Watch, the Fire Corps Program, the Medical Reserve Corps Program and the Volunteers in Police Service Program in various communities throughout the greater Portland metro area. In Clark County, visit the City of Vancouver Emergency Preparedness Citizen Corps. Another great resource is National Home Security Alliance.

Are you prepared for the next national crisis, terrorist attack or natural disaster, like a major Pacific Northwest earthquake? We live in a very fragile world. Many of the systems that we rely upon for our daily lives, here in America, are directed by computers, which are in fact made from plastic and silicon, sand. Remember the parable of Jesus that talked about building your house on sand, rather than the rock?
In an increasing technological world our daily lives are much more fragile than they were just 50 or 100 years ago and generally we are not prepared to live with great changes. But Life is Change! Millions are praying for God to bring revival, restoration and even transformation to our community, our nation, but historically such has taken place in the midst of great change. Are you ready for it?
Do you have supplies available for you and your family to live for a week or months without food, water, electricity, cell phones and computers? More importantly, as believers, do you have the faith to believe God to meet your needs and the needs of those that He will bring to you in a time of crisis. Jesus easily fed more than 5000 people with just two fish and loaves of bread. Are you ready to go and do likewise?
Serving Our Neighbors is a Resource Information Center on preparing your home, your church, your ministry and your service/business for a national crisis, terrorist attack and/or natural disaster with strategic information from the Christian Emergency Network, the Emergency Email Network, the Fourth Turning - An American Prophecy and the Oregon based, Portland Office of Emergency Management, the American Red Cross - Oregon Trail Chapter & the Pacific Northwest Earthquake Information Center.
So, take the time right now to prepare your home, church, ministry or service for the next national crisis, terrorist attacks or natural disaster, like a Northwest regional earthquake. Have enough food and water stored for several days, weeks or months and be prepared to live without electricity, phones and computers. But more importantly, be ready to serve your neighbors with signs, wonders & miracles as you believe God to meet your needs and those around you. Honor God our Father, on Father's Day by being ready to bless your neighbors with His Love and Power!
